The Two Moors Campaign supports realistic renewable energy and
a sustainable rural environment. The Two Moors
Campaign is against the industrialisation of Rural Devon and supports the
conservation of our historic landscape.
We
strongly support realistic renewable energy and energy conservation. We are
however strongly opposed to proposals which will have a severe detrimental
impact on our environment and which will not address our 21st Century energy
needs Never could so much be lost for so little.
We
support genuine local, small scale, sensitively sited renewables. These do not
require major cable connections to the grid and are designed to meet the needs
of an individual property or community for example small-scale wind turbines,
solar power, PVs, stream turbines, combined heat, wood pellets and geothermal.
We
support energy conservation for example insulation and replacing ordinary
incandescent bulbs with energy saving bulbs which can make a huge difference.
We support marine turbines and wave power which give a predictable and reliable
output such as those under consideration off the North Devon coast and of
Cornwall
These are
realistic options suitable for our rural corner of Devon. Further more some of
these technologies are offered by businesses in the south west and their
utilisation will support Devon's economy.
There is a wealth of
scientific evidence supporting our claims and there are about a hundred
campaign groups opposing giant wind turbine developments in this country alone.
Other organisations
opposing, or gravely concerned about the impacts of, giant wind turbines
include National Wind Power, the Renewable Energy Foundation, Country Guardian,
the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England, the National Trust, the
Country Landowners Association, the Ramblers Association along with individuals
such as Sir Bernard Ingham, Professor James Lovelock, Noel Edmonds and David
Bellamy.
The
government is currently reviewing its energy policy because it realises that
our future needs will not be met by wind. Successive planning inspectors in
North Devon have opposed these structures in such a valuable landscape. We
hope you will do the same.
