How Campaigning Works |
|
"Never
doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens HOW CAMPAIGNING AGAINST A WIND TURBINE PROPOSAL WORKS WHAT CAN WE DO? Oppose planning applications for the wind turbines Refuse to lease land to energy companies for wind turbines Lobby the government to correct it’s flawed renewables energy policy with regard to wind turbines
HOW DO WE DO THIS? Fact find and learn all about -“The Devasting Impact, Risks and Invalidity of Wind Turbines” e.g. How the economy (of which tourism is a large part in rural areas), the environment and the ecology are damaged How friends, families and communities are ripped apart. That wind farms are noisy, dangerous and may be a risk to health That damage claims may be lodged That wind farms are inefficient and expensive and that our money is being wasted on wind turbines by our government. That installing thousands of wind turbines is not a solution to the fossil fuel or to the CO2 problems. That when the wind blows too little, too much or not at all, the wind turbines stop and a power station takes over and the power station has to be kept up and running in order to take over at any time. That wind turbines are not even a short term solution never mind a sustainable one etc
And then share our information - “Publicity to let everyone know what we know” e.g. with conversation, email, letters, leaflets, posters, meetings, exhibitions, displays, press, broadcasts, demonstrations etc to influence, support and ask for the support of e.g. NDDC Planning Authority and Planning Committee Our County Councillor Our MPs & MEPs Our Government i.e. MPs, MEPs, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Lords, OFCOM, the DTI etc The NFU, CPRE, CLA, etc Energy companies Land owners Our friends and community far and wide
Campaigners must form a body of influence to influence the bodies of decision
A campaign helps to co-ordinate fact finding and publicity by providing a group of like minded, passionate people who are in close communication with each other and who will fight to the end.
